Pay it Forward

I was reading Jants Art blog and she had this on it. I love Pay it forward and so I decided to do the same here.

Here are the rules:

The guidelines: "I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days that is my promise!"The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog."Want to participate? Be one of the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post and make the same promise on your own blog. Not So Random Acts of Kindness, and 365 days to do it in!!! What a cool idea! So, here goes! If you're interested in participating, just be one of the first three people to post that you would like to PIF! You don’t have to be a knitter, you can hand craft any gift you are good at.

NOt only will I do this but I promise to do 3 Random Acts of Kindness before this year is over.

I will post about them later after they are done.

I'd like you all to do the same thing. What a nice way to end the year 2007

a Happy Birthday

Well Dec 12th was my 58th birthday and I had a wonderful day. I got a great new coffee mug and gift card from Starbucks and a super pair of slippers from my Rue & hubby and kids
and I got one of those way cool digital photo frames from my Tina & Dade and kids.
And hubby got me the most beautiful bouquet of roses with oriental lillies.
And Rue baked me a pineapple upside down cake. And hubby bought a big spread of Chinese food. yummmmm
All my kids and grandkids were here and I was happy.
For a surprise for the grandkids we bought that Rock Band game and stuff for them to play with over here. It comes with drums and a guitar and a mic and the video game.
We all had a ball with it.
I highly recommend a 58th bd for all of you!!

Happy Birthday Rue gurl. Love you.

Yep that's right, it fits, the blue earflap hat. It fits my chihuahua Rayo!! He'a a year old. and weighs 4.6 lbs.
He looks sad doesn't he.? hahahahahah

blue hat

Here is the blue earflap hat! It ended up being too small for baby Cole so I will give it to Mia Bella for her dolls to wear. I'm happy I made it tho because now I know how easy it is to make and I can make more with no problem!! Cole will still get one before it gets colder. !!(hi tina)

those sneaky projects

This always happens to me. I will be working hard on one or more projects, trying hard to get them finished and out of the corner of my eye I will see something interesting on my computer. Hey! What's this?

Oh that would look sooooo cute on so and so. I have just got to cast on for it before I do anything else.!!

And before I know it, I am thumbing thru my needles looking for the right size and scrambling to my yarn stash (only a tiny part of which I can even get to) to find just the yarn for this project. And off I go, casting on feverishly before the pattern disappers and I will lose this chance of a life time. BEcause we all know that if you don't start the item immediately, you lose your chance forever!!! Or at least that's how I am thinking while doing all of the thumbing and scrambling and casting on of stitches and the poor items I had been working on are thrown to the side until my fever starts to subside and my mind becomes clearer.

Does all this mean that I am a knitting addict? YES YES. I admit it.

Hi my name is Patt and I'm a Knitict. And I just started another project that my new grandson Cole just has to have. An Earflap hat!!! Just like the one in the above photo except I'm using a blue yarn as Cole is a boy and blue is a good color for him.
Ok gotta get back to it.

one done

I got one fetching done. What I didn't do was read the pattern all the way thru. What that means is when it came time to do the picot stuff I didn't do it cuz I didn't understand it.

So I will finish the other fetching, got it cast on already. and then I will go practice the cable cast on and the picot stuff. sheesh. I should know better by now. I'm just a little ashamed of myself.

Next ones will be perfect!

Here is the first one done.

Well I got my size 6 dp needles in yesterday so I cast on for some Fetching wrist warmers. We are doing this as a KAL in My Knitting Circle ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Myknittingcircle/ ) starting December.

The first pair I'm doing in Noro Kureyon in my oldests daughter's fave colorway. lots of purples and greens.

Next pair I'm going to do in redheart Byou in diamond. This is for one of my gdaughters. I'll make both my daughters and 3 gdaughers a pair for gifts.

I also have a pair of felted clogs to make for my sis Vickie. And still have the baby blanket to finish and the pair of toe up socks on cir needles to finishe.! And still have lots of wims I want to do.

How was everyones thanksgiving? Mine was super!

2 toe up socks on 2 circular needles

Just started trying to learn how to do the 2 socks toe up on 2 circular needles. So far I have gotten to row 1o and then frogged it as the yarns weren't matching up. NOw I'm just starting over again and gonna see how it comes out. ONce I got the turning and the right needle to use down it was ok.!!

will post a photo maybe tomorrow of my progress

we almost had a fisaster!!

We bought a cool fish tank a while back. I know I posted about it here. It is a double hexagon 70 gal tank with 2 tubes attaching the two tanks together. Well about a month ago we had some guys clean it for us, not pro's just some friends of my hubby.

We started noticing that the water was evaporating a lot faster that it used to. We were having to add water more and more each week.

Well hubby finally found out that there was a slow leak in the bottom of the tank and our brand new carpet was getting wetter by the day.
Next day I scoured craigslist and freecycle hoping to find a replacement tank that hubby could pick up fast. Nothing to fit our needs so on the way home from work hubby stopped by local pet store and picked up this second photo fish tank. It says it's 55 gal all glass tank and it looks a lot bigger than the double one. and the double one is acrylic and scratches super easy.
Any way to end the story, our new carpet is almost dry now but we have decided to leave the tank where it is for now. Way too much trouble moving it.
What do you all think:? which tank do you like best? I like the new one best.

Ravelry Member

So I'm a member of Ravelry. Got my invite a few days ago. There is so much stuff here to look at and to do, it's hard to know where to start.

I suggest that newbies start at there notebooks and go looking in the groups and the forums.

I thought it was going to be somehow different than it is. I just wasn't thinking about how many people there were going to be in here.

I have joined 2 groups: Bay Area Knitters and another one I forget already. lol

there is just so much there to look at. lol

Well my id on there is PattM so any of you want to add me as your friend just let me know. It will be cool to see if any of the members read my blog.

I doubt it but hey who knows.

I just started on a pair of Oh Baby Baby booties last night and finished one and started on the second one today. It is soooo cute.

Baby Cole is here

So Baby Cole came early. Born Oct, 13, 2007. 7:01 pm. 8 lbs 14 oz 20 1/2 inches.

And he looks like his sister but just a male version of her. I think you can just look at him and know he's a boy.
1st photo is of baby Cole not too long after he was born.
2nd one is of Mema (me) and Cole
3rd is of Mema and Cole
4th is of Dade, Coles Daddy, Cole and Mia, Cole's big sister. I know she's his big sister cuz it says so on her shirt!
5th one is of Cole's Mommy, checking out his toes, and Cole and Aunt Rue Rue in the corner.

here are a few photos.

New knitting student

Just wanted to share this with you all. Here is Eric. He is my gson's cousin. I've known him from the day he was born. He always calls me his Mema and he is my grandson .

Anyway he asked me to teach him to knit last week. I was really happy about that.

Well today was his first lesson. He did really well. He knows how to cast on and to knit and purl.

all that learned in two hours.

Pretty good huh? I just sent him home with the ball of yarn and a set of needles. He's gonna practice at home and come back on thursday.
