One Crocheted Sock Done, one to go

Ok here is my first finished sock. Will start on the second one now. I have already done the ribbing on it. So the next pair I make like this , I will add more rows after the ribbing but before the heel hole. I need for it to be longer there and the ribbing can be a few stiches smaller. Other than that it is a good sock!!

Some new yarns

I went to Walmart with my hubby and my daughter and grandson yesterday and I found these yarns. I didn't have them so I just had to get 2 skeins of each. Don't have a clue as to what I will make with them but you know how it is when you find new yarn.
If ya have any idea what I can use them for just give me a yell.

I thought this was a cute pattern for the swap and just to put some sizzle in the flowers I gave the 1st round of each flower some novelty eyelash yarn.. Hope my swap partner likes it. I got the pattern from the Lion Brand website.

I just made this little flower bookmark for a swap I am in with the Creative Korners yahoo group. I belonged to this group before but left it for a while. But joined it again recently and I am enjoying being back!

Rho knitting fishes

A friend and member of my BearsEtc4Kids-Dennisbears group came to visit me and she spent the night and we had a great time talking and talking. We did take a break so that she could learn how to do the fishes afghan that Cyn showed us on her blog. http://www.cynscorner.blogspot.com/ Above is a photo of her doing just that, reading pattern and knitting a fish and another photo of us in my living room. Yep she is that tall and I am that short!! It was super great to spend time with her.

this is my purse so far. Have finished the front and back of it. Sewn it together and made the flower and attached that. I am working on the straps right now. Need 2 of those. Then I will make the lining. I want to add a few small pockets to the lining. I need a place for my keys and my cell phone and then one other pocket on other side of lining for whatever. this is gonna be one heck of a cute purse.
I just ordered 2 purse patterns from online for making felted purses! I 'm on a roll I tell ya.

disappointed but busy day anyway

Well as most of you know, I am owner of BearsEtc4Kids@yahoogroups.com and one of our members is Rho Cox. Her daughter Amanda died from leukemia and our group helped Rho thru that hard hard time. Just like all of you helped me get thru losing my grandson Dennis.
Well Rho is visiting her Mom and is only an hour or so away from me and we had made plans for her to come visit me today. Then during the night her Mom got quite sick and spent the night in the hospital but is now back at home resting. So the visit had to be postponed for another day.
So what did I do? Ha, well my granddaughter Olivia and I went to Yardbirds and got some metal fencing to go around the bottom half of my big porch. Thats to keep my doggy dog on the porch this summer. Now I can use my porch like I want to and not have to worry about Num Num running loose like a wild thing.
Oh and then we went to Hancock Fabrics and picked up some fabric for lining for the two purses I am making. Got the taupe one started already. That's it in the photo above.
I got some D rings and some magnetic snaps, to put some closure and some handles on the purse. I looked but couldn't find the plastic handles that the pattern calls for. But the pattern calls for ribbon yarn and I am using Suede Lion Brand Yarn so go figure.
What do ya think? I bought some black suede to make a black one for me. I can't wait to get to the little flower! I love the shiney beads in the middle of it.
Oh and you know what else I got at the fabric store? I got a Knit-Wit, and a Doodle-Loom and a wonder knitter!! I have never even see any of these in a store, lol you can tell I don't go shopping very often. yep I do most my shopping on line.
I'm going to use the wonder knitter to make handles when I do a felted purse. I have 10 skeins of wool yarn baa baa baaaaaing it way to me as I type. So more felt stuff on the way. weeeeeee

Here is my first knitted slipper. Yes it is a bit big but once I have the other one done I will felt them and try to get them to fit my feet. Now that is gonna be a challange!! lol

Up late with ideas running thru my head

This is Javie, my grandson. He is almost 4 and has the most vivid imagination. I never know what he is going to do. Here he is with and ace bandage wrapped around his head, held together with one of my hair clilps. He is hoding the vacuum cleaner hose in one hand and my picker upper thingie in the other and those are his guns. See the boots on the floor? Yep, he wore those over here. He is telling me to get my hands up. then he sang the Cops song, yhou know the one, Bad Boys Bad Boys, what cha gonna do, what cha gonna do when they come for you!!
Yep, it's late, 4:33 am and I am up here with all these ideas running thru my head. I have always known that I am a night person but since I stopped working and started going to bed at night instead of work, I forgot about it.
There are all sorts of things I want to do. Here are just a few of them.
1. design a felted purse
2. design and make a crocheted or tied beaded friendship bracelet. with some blue beads.
3. start a sweater for Mia
4.clean up my yarn stash and my puter desk. that idea has been running thru my head alllll day. I want to move things around and vacuum and then shampoo the carpets and then arrange my yarn stash in a better way.
5. I want to get rid of a lot of patterns that I have that I know I won't ever make and if I do finally want to make one I know I will find the pattern somewhere again. sheesh. why do I print out all these patterns anyway? why???? Cuz I need to that's why.
6. Give my doggy a bath soon as it gets warm enough. He really is starting to smell like a doggy expecially when he goes outside and runs around in the wet grass and then comes running in and comes to me for some doggy hugs!
Oh remember the doggy hand puppet I knitted the other day? Well I wrote out a crocheted version of it and made it and am having a tester test the pattern for me. Then am going to use said pattern in a crochet along in my groups.
Also want to use the felted purse pattern that I design in my group as a crochet along.
So see these are just a few thought running in my little brain right now and I really really want to go to sleep but hubby gets up for work in an hour so I am going to be sweet and not bother him my flopping in bed and waking him up. (sweet wife that I am)

New photos of Mia gurl

Went to visit Mia Bella and her Mom and Daddy today. Monica, my oldest granddaughter went with me. Mia loves books. She will give a little yell if her dad takes to long on one page. Once she has seen it and felt the fuzzy stuff she is ready for the next. But she just loves to lay on the floor and play and look at her books. She is such a sweetie. I absolutely love her to pieces.

felted purse done!!!

Here are the results of my first attempt at felting. I really love the purse. I think I just need to change the handle a tiny bit, add a button and then make a cell phone holder for it and its good to go. I plan on using this most of the time. I mean why not? That's what I made it for.
And comments or advice will be taken with an open mind!

Two puppets done so far

Ok you can tell the truth. Just how bad are these puppets? The shark one I just started making something and it turned into a shark. I kind of like it. But the puppy one should have been way better looking. What I did wrong was I only used one strand of yarn and it called for 2. DU"HHH . Well the next one will be better. lol
I hope Mia likes these.

Here is the almost finished crocheted purse. I am making the handle now. Then I will hobble down the stairs and put in the washing machine and see if it gets as small as I want it to be. I only need my wallet , keys and lipstick to fit in it so it can be quite small. I hate big bags unless they are really needed. Think this is going to turn out pretty.!!

first felted purse

Decided to finally make a felted purse for myself. This photo is what I have done so far. I love the colors and this yarn is Paton's Classic Merino wool. Nice and soft. I actually have another one I started last year but the yarn is stiff and feels itchy. I like this yarn a lot better.
Stay tuned for updates on it. Am using my own design.

Crocheting with Plastic Bags

Well here I am cutting plastic garbage bags into pieces. what fun. I bought this little cutter to cut photos when I do scrapbooking but just found out it works fine on the bags as well.
As I cut the bags and tie them together into a strip, I am winding them into a ball with my yarn winder. I love my yarn winder. Before I had it I would not buy yarn that had to be wound into balls cuz I hated to do it by hand. But now I wind any sort of yarn with it.
Oh and am going to do a mystery crochet pattern on Bumbles Groovey Crochet group with the plastic bags. She said to cut up at least 25 bags. So I only have 21 left to do. hahahha

My Lucky Irish Hat

Got this lucky Irish hat in a "Kiss me I'm Irish swap" in Bumbles Groovey Crochet group. Cool huh. My granddaughter Olivia borrowed it so she can take it to her school on Monday for show and tell!!!

I made this crochet hook case and a lucky star to send back to lady. I must have made at least 50 of these crochet hook cases and I love them.

American Idol

Hey Dawgs!! Am watching American Idol right now. Don't know why but it seems a little boring this time around. Maybe cuz it's first girls and then boys. Maybe it will pick up some once they mix it up some.

the sock and rip it rip it rip it!!!

Ok so here's what happened with the sock. First I knitted the cuff. then ripped it out and crocheted it. ok that was ok. Then I crocheted the rest of the sock, tried it on, decided I needed to add a few rows before the heel part so last night around midnight I am here ripping out the sock totally and winding the yarn back into a ball. It is sitting here waiting patiently for me to start agian.I think one of my problems with the whole thing is that I can't find my g hook. I mean I just bought 3 of them in the last 2 months and they have all disappeared!! So I guess I gotta either go buy another one or start begging for a handout!! lol

Monday night

Just wanted to put up a couple of photos .
Top is my daughter Tina and her hubby Dade with my granddaughter Mia and Coco. Next is granddaughter Olivia with Coco. Next one is of grandson Javie and granddaugher Monica. and bottom one is of Doggies.
It is storming here today and hubby wasn't home so doggies got to go potty in the house. Not just anywhere mind you but on the training pads. When hubby came home they were so happy to see him. It surprized me.
Well I got another square done today. Yep just one and I know I am behind some of the other challengers so tomorrow I need to make a couple more.

It's a Friday kind of Day

Yep it is a real Friday kind of day here. I am just chillin here in my jammies and it's almost 12 noon! I got the doggies taking a nap and the tv on some silly show.
In my BearsEtc4Kids group I have thrown out a challenge to all members to make a square a day and send them to the AFAProject (AfghansforAngels) This is a great organization and I feel it needs some new exposure in all the groups. just go to http://www.afaprojects.org and check it out for yourself. I know you will feel the need to do something for them too.
They gave my grandson Dennis an afghan when he was in hospital with leukemia. He used it everyday. It made him feel good to know that peeps he didn't even know had love for him. That's what the kids need, to know they are loved.
Dennis has been gone for 2 years now but I think of him every single day and miss him big time.
Have you all seen the MySpace.com site? Man I thought that was a place for school kids but I see that even adults are putting there selves on there. I know my girl Rue did, along with her sisters. hmmmm. cool I guess

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It has been really cold here the last few days and my new puppies are shivering so what did I do??? Yep made a sweater but it ended up to small for either one so I am doing another one but larger. These are just simple make fast sweaters so they can be warm. later I plan on doing the knitted ones that are so cute. Am making a blue for boy and pink for the girl. duh how creative is that mess? NOT!
