DennisBear Christmas Tree 2006
This is my Dennisbear Christmas Tree. I put it up every year. My grandson, Dennis, passed away Jan 3, 2004 and that year I asked the members in the Dennisbears group that I had started to make me an ornament to hang on the tree. We made a contest out of it. I think a beaded bell ornament won the contest. So now this is the third year that I have gotten out those ornaments and decorated my tree with all of them. Some are homemade, some are store bought and some are given off of members own trees, but all of them were given in love an I hope that Dennis sees them year after year. I think maybe next year I will have another ornament contest. The tree could use a few more. I love all the bear ornaments that were sent.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Merry Christmas Everyone!!
Well it is almost here. Santa Clause will be shimminy down those fireplaces and sneaking in the doors, bringing all good things to those that have been good.
So have you been good? I know I have been very good. lol
I have been crocheting on a baby blanket, finally got it done and forgot to take a pic of it. But will get my daughter to take one of it.
I am working on a button hole purse KAL that we are doing in my knit group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pattsknittingcircle/
and I just finished a hat, a beret that I am sending out for a swap.
forgot to photo that as well. I have been in such a rush to get so many things done that my head has been in a haze. And add to that a broken big toe and a head and chest cold and there you have me.

Long time no post!!
Wow it's been a long time since I have posted here. Wonder what the heck I've been up to? lol
First off we gave away our big dog Num Num to a wonderful family with a huge back yard. They are perfect new parents for him as he was getting way to active for me to take care of properly. I miss him a lot but I can call and ask about him whenever I get the notion.
This Rayo puppy jumped off a box and broke his left front paw and is in a splint for 6 weeks. The vet said his little bones are too tiny for a metal pin as the pin would be bigger than his bone. But he is doing fine. I have some liquid pain drops to give him when he starts to hurt but he is running all over the place.
ok gotta go do some paperwork for right now. I promise to post a lot more often after christmas is over with. !!

Fun Day at the San Francisco Zoo
This is Mia gurl looking all cute and then there is Me and the Lion.
This is a photo of Tina, Dade and Mia. Mia is pointing at the Zebras.
This is the first animals you see when going into the park. And I bet you all didn't know that I collected giraffes until I had no more room for them so asked everyone to stop giving them to me! But I love them. Love the color and shape of them. Zebras too but don't collect them.

Baby blanket done
I just finished this baby blanket. It is my basketweave pattern I designed in 1972. I used 8 skeins of Homespun in the color Williamsburg. This is for my daughter and her hubby to give to hubby's cousin. Cousin just had new baby boy! This is a heavy blanket but each time you wash it, it gets softer and softer and lighter.
Gonna make my granddaughter Mia one in light purple for Christmas cuz her Mommy has requested it. :)
another purse almost done
I just now finished a Noni purse for a swap. It is a triangle ended bag and I used Patons Classic Merino in a blue and then a varigated plum, rust, and blue. It came out real nice. I ordered 6 sets of plastic handles. 2 in blue marled, 2 in purple glitter and 2 in rust, but none of them really match the purse so I am going to make an i-cord for the handles. better get to it so I can get this bag felted and sent out. Will post a photo of it once the bag gets to my partner!!

purse is knitted, felted, dried and alll done
A friend of mine, Deb Page, said she can't wait to see this one finished so this is just for her. ta daaaaaa
I had to fold the sides in a bit as the top wanted to flop open. Next time I use this New Zealand yarn (thin and stiff) I will double strand it. And remind me NOT to use the noro stuff for an accent carry along yarn. in spots you can't see the fluffy stuff only the string part. :(
New intern at the Ice company
Well Here is the new intern at my daughter and her hubbys business. Her name is Mia and she looks ready to work. A little uncertain but ready to go.
Next photo is of office manager/coowner /Mom , Tina showing the intern how to greet customers. Next one is of Mia and co owner/delivery guy/Dad, Dade letting Mia handle an incoming fax. She is doing well! What a little worker.
Next photo is of Mia wondering why I keep taking photos of her when she is trying to learn the business and in the next one she is asking her boss if she is allowed to show the customers her tongue!!! I think the boss said that she most certainly can if she says to the first, "Hi, how can I help you?"

12 in squares for a comfortghan
These are the 2 12 inch squares that I made to send to Christy McMahon for a comfortghan she is making for a member of her Bumbles Groovy Crochet yahoo group.
I have it all packed up, stamped and ready to mail and now looking at this photo I see that the square on the right has different yarn on the last 2 rounds. this really sucks. I could have sworn that the yarns were the same kind and same lot # but evidently they weren't. Normally I wouldn't send this off but this time I am going to let it slide.
I have a lot of things I need to get knitted and crocheted by Oct. and I just don't have the arm strength to rip it out and do over again. Time is my enemy and so is my arthritis. Boy can it get any more painful????? Ha well I know it can but don't want to think about having to endure it.

My Famous Basketweave Baby Blanket
For the last 30 years, I have made every new baby in the family and every friends new baby one of my basketweave baby blankets. Now for the last 5 years I have been making them for my daughter and her hubby, whenever a friend or family member has a baby, I get called into action.
This is my latest one. It has to be done by October so I better get back to work on it. I'm using Homespun in the color Williamsburg for this one. I'll post a photo when it is done.

Virtual Handbag Exibit
Go here http://handbags.knotjustknitting.com/
Go down and look at the 8th Exhibiton / Sept. 2006. I have 4 of my bags on display here. How cool is that? And my friend Deb Page has her Toucan purse right next to one of mine.
I love that purse of hers.

Almost there
Well here is my finished purse. All it needs is to be felted. I've been sick for a few days but I will hopefully get it felted in the next day or two and dried and all that. I hope my partner likes it. Gonna make a few stitch markers and send with purse.
Did I mention that I used the Romantic Ruffles pattern for this purse? It is super easy to do.

A little venting
I am just wondering what has become of courtesy? Do you remember when businesses wanted you to come visit their stores so bad that they trained their personnel to be friendly and helpful to customers? I remember, but that memory is getting vague.
Here's what I mean. A few days ago, hubby and I went into an Apple store. you know, as in apple computers, laptops, ipods? Having acquired an ipod, we were looking for another way to charge it besides hooking it up to our computer. The man at the store told us that the only way to charge the batteries was to hook it up to puter. We strolled around the store and found an isle with nothing but accessories to charge the ipod; from your car and from the wall and many others such items. These items were about 1 foot away from the cashier that told us there was no other way. HELP ME!! Why is he working there and giving out advice if he doesn't know anything about ipods????
Next, my sis and I went to Walmart looking for some varnish. In the paint dept, here was a guy mixing paint. Asked if he knew where the varnish was kept, he pointed to a few isles over from him. We went over there and looked and looked, and nope, no varnish. We went back to where man was mixing paint and low and behold, there was the varnish not 5 feet away in the isle right next to the guy. Again HELP ME!!
And my sis and I were both on the electric carts for disabled patrons. As my sis was going down an isle, this lady and her hubby dashed in front of my sis and almost ran her over. The lady looked at my sis and let out such a barrage of foul language that I bet would make a sailor blush. She called my sis the f word and much more. She said she wanted to slap the s*** out of her and my sis said, "Well if you want to chance it, I am very capable of getting off this cart and knocking you out!!" That cracked me up. Go Sis. I told the lady she was just too rude to be allowed outside. Lady continued griping even after her hubby told her to just shut up.
HELP THAT LADY!!
I just couldn't believe that it really happened. Whew!
Ok I feel better now and am done with my venting. Thanks so much for your time. :P
